The Musicians
Hillary, Sharon, and Spencer met while attending Stillwater Area High School and have kept in contact ever since. After joining the SCVSO in River Falls, Wisconsin, the trio met Max Vitullo and Serenata String Quartet was born.
Sharon Zierath, Violin- Originally from Afton, Minnesota, Sharon graduated from Stillwater Area High School before attending Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin to pursue a degree in violin performance. She is currently attending UW River Falls, graduating with degrees in biomedical biology, chemistry minor. In her spare time she enjoys fishing with her significant other and playing with their two dogs Kaleigh and Kiara. Max Vitullo, Violin- At nine years of age, Max began to play the violin and has gained almost a decade of experience and instruction from various local musicians and violin professors in the Twin Cities and St. Croix Valley region. He has a love for teaching as well as playing and has given instruction on the violin to all ages. He is currently attending Century College, and is planning to earn a music degree from the U of M. Outside of music he enjoys all kinds of indoor and outdoor activities as well as spending time with his friends and family. Spencer Rossbach, Viola- Music has always been a vital part of Spencer's life. He began taking piano lessons at age six, started playing the viola in his school music program at age ten, and his parents can testify that he has loved singing since he was a toddler. He is overjoyed to have found the opportunity to perform and share his talents with the Serenata String Quartet and the St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra. Outside of his musical career, Spencer is about to complete his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota. He is looking forward to starting his career in business soon, while still focusing on music as one of his main passions. Hillary Pennella, Cello- After graduating from Stillwater High School, Hillary pursued both music and business at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. While studying with her cello professor, a former Chicago Symphony Orchestra cellist, Hillary also had a variety of performance opportunities in Chicago such as masterclasses, pit orchestras, and even as a studio musician. She has since moved back to the Twin Cities where she is continuing to study Business and Operations while continuing to play the cello. Aside from the Serenata String Quartet, Hillary also plays with the St. Croix Valley and East Metro Symphony Orchestras. For fun, she enjoys anything outdoors, including hiking, horseback riding, and fishing. |
